Vivay is a stunning project created by two health professionals committed to the fight against cancer. Their aim is to give aesthetic and personal pleasure to all women facing chemotherapy, which involves hair loss, a particularly difficult process for a woman. The website to be created was a classic showcase website but with the aim of effectively communicating the brand's values: softness, femininity, beauty and confidence. During the research phase I focused on an illustrated, calm and soft style, with ample use of negative spaces to communicate peace and serenity, avoiding a feeling of crowding and confusion. The colour palette was also chosen to communicate a soft and warm touch.
During an initial moodboarding phase, we agreed with the client that the illustrated tone of the design was the most suitable for brand communication. Following this, I selected a serif font, perfect for communicating a feeling of human relationships, friendship and trust. The font was then combined with a sans serif, matching the font used in the client's logo. The layout was set to a squarer form that could somehow contain and balance the exuberance of the illustrations and not make the communication veer too much into expressive and creative areas. The medical device of the prosthesis is in fact the result of scientific research and experimentation and not just aesthetic. The layout also has a lot of negative space which makes the flow of information calmer and more relaxed, the user experience in this type of site is in fact under difficult conditions, and it is important to inspire an atmosphere of calm and confidence. The colour palette is designed to support the feelings generated by the layout and font, and thus give a soft, feminine tone to the communication, thanks to desaturated tones that are never visually intrusive.
The main interest of the project is due to its social commitment to a very delicate and complex issue such as illness. In this project, I was able to experience the importance of an initial study and research phase, to understand, mainly from the user experience point of view, the needs and state of mind of the target audience. In fact, I conducted several workshops with the founders of Vivay to better understand the physical and psychological conditions of the site users. It was also important to use the tools of visual communication as a medium to arrive at a final output that would not only be of practical use, but also aesthetic and psychological. In addition to brand communication, the website also has some specific functionalities such as the calendar of events and appointments of Vivay in the territory. A second phase is being worked on to expand the functionality and create an area dedicated to the formation of a community of users who want to share their experiences and useful information.
